The mukojima networks event focussed on Mukojima, an area in northern Sumida-ku.
This area is about 5 kilometers distance from Nihonbashi and thus rather central.

Higashi-Mukojima, Kyojima and Sumida are the three neighborhoods where mukojima networks had events happening.
One of the aims of the mukojima networks event was to connect different neighborhoods to form a town planning network.
Higashi-Mukojima, Kyojima and Sumida share similar characteristics regarding their town scape and social structure. Features such as small and very small lots, a maze-like system of narrow roads, a stock of partly old wood houses that are week against disasters, a very vital social neighborhood live, problems such as aging population, decline of the economical vitality, are typical for the whole northern Sumida-ku.
During the mukojima networks event we created an urban exhibition that connected this three areas to a "town discovery network".
